The right website builder for a therapist depends on who will do the work. Squarespace, Wix, Showit, and WordPress give you the tools, and you write, build, and update the site. SimplePractice adds a website builder to its practice-management plans, and Brighter Vision and TherapySites build and host a site for a monthly fee. Before you choose, check what you keep if you leave, because the terms vary widely.
How We Chose These Eight Options
This guide compares eight ways for a US practice to get a website for a monthly or annual fee. They fall into four groups: hosted builders, WordPress, a practice-management system, and monthly services built for therapists. Every price and term comes from the company's own pages, checked on October 20, 2026.
This comparison covers platforms and subscriptions. For help deciding who should do the work, our therapist website cost guide compares DIY and hiring routes. We rank no one, and entries run alphabetically within each group.
Which Builders Can You Run Yourself?
These three host your site for a monthly or annual fee. You pick a template, write the pages, and keep them current.
1. Showit
Showit is a website builder for design-led sites, with desktop and mobile designs edited separately. Its blog plans add a WordPress blog, which Showit hosts.
- Price (US, October 2026)
- $22 a month billed annually ($259 a year), or $27 billed monthly, for the plan with no blog. Blog plans run $27 to $39 a month billed annually.
- Best for
- A design-led solo practice that wants full control of layout and has time to tend desktop and mobile separately.
- If you leave
- Its terms say Showit claims no ownership of your content and makes you responsible for backups. Your domain can stay with any registrar. Plans renew automatically, and you can cancel at any time.
- Templates for therapists
- Its Design Market sells templates from independent designers, with a Health & Wellness filter. Template fees are separate from the subscription.
- Booking and intake
- Its pricing page lists no scheduling tool, so link to your practice-management system's booking page.
- Blog
- WordPress, on the two blog plans. Our Showit comparison explains how pages and posts split.
- Upkeep
- Showit's help center says you adjust desktop and mobile designs independently, so check each change on both.
2. Squarespace
Squarespace is a hosted builder with templates, a built-in blog, and its own scheduling product, Acuity.
- Best for
- A solo practice, or a group with a few clinicians, that wants hosting in one subscription and will write its own pages.
- If you leave
- Squarespace exports layout pages, one blog, and text and image blocks to a WordPress file. Other content stays behind. A domain bought there can move to another provider, and the site runs until you cancel it.
- Templates for therapists
- Squarespace has a therapist templates page for counseling, couples therapy, and other mental health practices.
- Booking and intake
- Acuity Scheduling, which has its own plans, or your practice-management system's booking link. Code injection, which some booking embeds need, starts with Core.
- Blog
- Built in.
- Upkeep
- Squarespace hosts the site, and you keep the pages current. Basic allows two contributors.
3. Wix
Wix is a hosted builder with a free plan, its own booking app, and templates for therapists.
- Price (US, October 2026)
- A free plan exists. Paid plans start with Light at $17 a month, paid yearly, per Wix's pricing guide. Wix says prices vary by location.
- Best for
- A solo practice that wants a free start and booking inside the builder, and expects to stay on Wix.
- Templates for therapists
- Wix has a therapist templates page, and several of those templates include Wix Bookings and a blog.
- Booking and intake
- Wix Bookings. The plans page lists scheduling from Core, which Wix's guide prices at $29 a month, paid yearly.
- Blog
- Built in.
- Upkeep
- Wix hosts and runs the site, and you keep the pages current.
Which Kind of WordPress Fits a Practice?
WordPress comes in two kinds, and the bill and the upkeep differ. Our WordPress vs Squarespace comparison explains both.
4. WordPress.com
WordPress.com is a hosted service that runs the WordPress software for you.
- Price (US, October 2026)
- Personal is $4 a month billed annually, or $9 billed monthly. Real-time backups start with Business, at $25 a month billed annually.
- Best for
- A practice that wants WordPress plugins and a standard export, with hosting and updates handled for it.
- If you leave
- The export carries posts, pages, and comments, with links to your media. Your theme design and plugins stay behind. A domain bought there takes five to seven days to transfer. Paid plans renew automatically.
- Templates for therapists
- Premium themes come with every paid plan.
- Booking and intake
- Every paid plan can install plugins, including booking plugins. You can also link your practice-management system's booking page.
- Blog
- Built in.
- Upkeep
- WordPress.com says its managed hosting covers updates, security, and backups.
5. WordPress.org (Self-Hosted)
WordPress is open-source software, licensed under the GPLv2, that you install on a web host you choose and pay for.
- Price (US, October 2026)
- The software is free. Hosting, the domain, and any paid themes or plugins are priced by their sellers, and WordPress.org lists recommended hosts.
- Best for
- A group practice that needs many pages sharing one structure, such as clinician profiles, and has a developer for upkeep.
- If you leave
- The site sits in your own hosting account. The export tool writes posts, pages, custom post types, custom fields, and users to a file another WordPress site can import.
- Templates for therapists
- Its free theme directory includes themes for therapists, coaches, and clinics. Check the editor and plugin requirements of the theme you choose.
- Booking and intake
- Plugins, or your practice-management system's booking link.
- Blog
- Built in.
- Upkeep
- Updates, backups, and security fall to you or a developer you pay.
Can Your Practice-Management System Host Your Website?
If you already pay for a practice-management system, check whether it includes a website.
6. SimplePractice
SimplePractice is a practice-management system with a website builder inside the same account.
- Price (US, October 2026)
- Plans are $49, $79, or $99 a month, billed monthly. Its current plan comparison lists the website on all three plans. Its domain guide limits custom domains to Essential and Plus. Confirm this for your account before choosing a plan.
- Best for
- A clinician already using SimplePractice who wants a website and appointment requests in the same account.
- If you leave
- You can publish on a SimplePractice address or connect your own domain. The pages live in your SimplePractice account, so ask how to keep them before you cancel. Plans bill monthly, and its pricing page states no minimum term.
- Templates for therapists
- Templates and a drag-and-drop editor that needs no coding, per its website page.
- Booking and intake
- Online appointment requests are listed on all three plans. The appointment request widget for an external website is listed only on Plus.
- Blog
- Its website page lists no blog.
- Upkeep
- SimplePractice hosts the site, and you edit it from the account you use for scheduling.
Which Services Build and Host the Site for a Monthly Fee?
These two build a therapy website for you on their own platforms, for a monthly fee. Read each one's leaving terms before you sign.
7. Brighter Vision
Brighter Vision builds therapist websites on its own platform. Its design team sets up the site, with pre-written specialty pages and unlimited tech support.
- Price (US, October 2026)
- Start is $99 a month billed monthly, or $78 a month billed annually, plus a $100 setup fee. Flourish is $349 a month, or $299 billed annually, and Thrive & Prosper is by quote.
- Best for
- A solo practice that wants a site set up for it, with support on one bill, and can commit to a first term.
- If you leave
- Its pricing FAQ says you own your domain and pay no release fee. Its terms say your content is yours and the platform stays Brighter Vision's. Unless your order says otherwise, the first term is one year and renews automatically.
- Templates for therapists
- A homepage generator and 10 or more pre-written specialty pages, set up by its design team.
- Booking and intake
- Its websites page lists appointment booking integrations and names no practice-management system.
- Blog

- Upkeep
- Brighter Vision runs the platform and renews your domain, and you can edit pages yourself.
8. TherapySites
TherapySites offers nine therapy website designs, which its onboarding specialists build for you. It is part of Internet Brands.

- If you leave
- Its FAQ says you pay month by month, unless a promotion requires several months. You keep a domain you bring and the content you add. Content TherapySites provides, and any domain it buys for you, stay its own, though it can transfer that domain to you for a fee.
- Templates for therapists
- Nine named designs, from Healing to Harmony.
- Booking and intake
- Core includes online appointment scheduling on your website.
- Blog
- Unlimited pages, with articles as a paid add-on from $99.
- Upkeep

Website Builders for Therapists at a Glance
How to Choose a Website Builder for Your Practice
Start with who will write and update the site. Then find your situation below.
Two habits help with any option:
- Register the domain in the practice's name, in an account you control.
- Direct intake, history, and clinical details to your practice's approved intake service or client portal. Check where submissions go before connecting a website form.
When Should You Hire Help Instead?
A builder supplies hosting, templates, and an editor. Four jobs stay with you:
- The words: who you help, your fees, and what happens after someone reaches out.
- The structure: which pages a client needs, and how a group routes people to the right clinician.
- The search setup: page titles, descriptions, Search Console (Google's report on how your site appears in search), and matching facts on every profile.
- The upkeep: fees, openings, bios, and each plugin or layout update.
If those jobs keep slipping, price the help. Our therapist website cost guide compares DIY, subscription, and custom budgets. Our website design for therapists page explains our approach, and how we work sets out the steps.
Questions About Website Builders for Therapists
Which Website Builder Is Best for Therapists?
It depends on who will do the work. If you will build and edit the site yourself, Squarespace and Wix both offer therapist templates and booking. If SimplePractice already runs your practice, check its website and custom-domain features for your plan. If you want the site built and hosted for a monthly fee, compare Brighter Vision's and TherapySites' leaving terms first.
Is Squarespace Good for Therapists?
Yes, for a solo practice, or a group with a few clinicians, that will write its own pages. It offers therapist templates, a built-in blog, and hosting in one subscription, from $19 a month billed annually. Acuity Scheduling has a separate subscription, or you can link to your existing booking service.
Should You Choose Wix or Squarespace?
Both host your site and offer therapist templates. Wix has a free plan and its own booking app from Core, and your site stays on Wix's servers. Squarespace exports part of a site to a WordPress file and offers Acuity for booking. Our Squarespace vs Wix vs custom comparison goes further, and our post on branding a practice on Wix covers Wix in depth.
Can I Use SimplePractice for My Website?
Yes, if SimplePractice already runs your practice. Its current plan comparison lists the website and online appointment requests on all plans. Its separate domain guide limits custom domains to Essential and Plus. You can publish on a SimplePractice address or your own domain. Ask which plan includes a custom domain before you build.
What This List Doesn't Tell You
We read each company's own pages on October 20, 2026, for all eight options. We did not build a test site on any of them.
Prices are list prices in US dollars, before tax and promotions. Squarespace and Wix say prices vary by location, so their figures come from Squarespace's FAQ and Wix's pricing guide.
This comparison covers website features, prices, and portability. It does not assess any platform's suitability for storing clinical information.
