All seven checks

Is your site clearly for them? Can they see you?

A new visitor looks for two answers: is this practice for me, and can I actually see them? In all eight of our audits (August to October 2026), the site or its profiles gave mixed answers about where the practice sees clients.

Seven checks to work through

Start with your homepage, then open your service, About, and location pages. Read as someone meeting your practice for the first time.

  1. 01The first screen says who you help and what you help with.

Open the homepage on your phone. Can you name the audience and main concern without scrolling?

    Your answer: Unanswered

Why this matters and an example

A visitor needs enough information to decide whether to keep reading.

Example: Therapy for adults navigating anxiety and major life changes.

If not yet: Name the people you work with and the concerns you help them address in your opening sentence.

  2. 02Your main services are explained in words a new client can understand.

Read one service description. Can you explain what help it offers without looking up a clinical term?

    Your answer: Unanswered

    Why this matters

An unfamiliar treatment name alone gives someone little help choosing a service.

If not yet: For each main service, describe who it helps and what working together can involve. Explain unfamiliar terms.

    Some writing or checking

  3. 03The homepage makes the next step easy to identify.

Look at the first screen and the end of the homepage. Can you identify how to inquire?

    Your answer: Unanswered

    Why this matters

Someone who is ready to act needs a clear route to you.

If not yet: Place a clearly named inquiry link near the opening and after the main homepage content.

    A focused edit

  4. 04The site explains the ages and concerns your practice works with.

Find who each service is suitable for. Check any limits that regularly come up in inquiries.

    Your answer: Unanswered

    Why this matters

Clear scope helps someone decide whether your practice is a practical fit.

If not yet: Name the age groups and concerns you work with. Explain relevant service limits in welcoming, plain language.

    Some writing or checking

  5. 05Visitors can understand which clinician to contact or how matching works.

Open your team page. Can a visitor choose someone or find a clear matching process?

Doesn't apply? You are a solo practitioner.

    Your answer: Unanswered

    Why this matters

A list of biographies can leave people unsure which person to approach.

If not yet: Give each clinician a clear focus and inquiry route, or explain how your practice matches new clients.

    Some writing or checking

  6. 06A visitor can find where in-person sessions take place.

Find the office location and arrival instructions. If you share the exact address after booking, is that explained?

Doesn't apply? Your practice offers online sessions only.

    Your answer: Unanswered

    Why this matters

People need to assess the journey and know how arrival details will reach them.

If not yet: State the area you serve and how to find the office. Add useful arrival or access details for your location.

    A focused edit

  7. 07The site explains where clients can be located for online sessions.

Find your online-session page. Check that the locations match your current practice arrangements.

Doesn't apply? Your practice does not offer online sessions.

    Your answer: Unanswered

    Why this matters

Someone seeking online care needs to know whether your practice can serve them where they are.

If not yet: Ask the treating clinician to confirm the permitted locations, then publish them beside the online-session information.

    A focused edit
